| Customer Reviews: A good read August 7, 2010 R. Collins I'm not much of a book reviewer and I have to get into a book straight away or I tend not to persevere. I'm about 3/4s of the way through this book and don't have much to say other than, I'm really enjoying it. Easy to read, no messing around, broken down into his various tales, which can be gripping at times(I didn't realise the sea faring trade could be so shady).
I don't think you'll be dissapointed if you buy this.
Jumper.
Interesting book August 3, 2010 J. Sturgeon (UK) Saw this book reviewed on tv & couldn't wait to read it - a bit slow to start, but it's definitely a good buy.
One for the boys? August 2, 2010 Claire U I did enjoy this as I was impressed by the spirit of the man (what a dinner partner) and it is a facinating story but for me this became a muddle of ship names/people etc.
Different and inventive July 25, 2010 D. Bell 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book is a series of stories about taking ships out of port where they have been detained. Its very different from any other book I have read and I learnt a lot about shipping in the process. It's author is American so as well as American English there is a fair bit of hype; on the blurb, for example, "battling pirates" means outwitting guards and the "world's most troubled waters" are mainly the Caribbean and do not include Somalia or anywhere near which is a pity.
The stories are good though and the author certainly finds unusual ways to spring ships from the ports they are held in.
