Product Description The Restoration Court knows Lady Dona St Columb to be ripe for any folly, anything to alter the tedium of her days. But there is another Dona who longs for a life of honest love - even if it is spiced with danger. It is this Dona who flees London for remote Navron, finding there a hunted pirate.

Not Daphne Du Maurier's finest July 13, 2010 J. Almy (UK) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I was very disappointed by Frenchman's Creek. The characters were two dimensional and the storyline creeked along in a very predictable way. It had none of the expertise of Rebecca and I found it hard to believe that both books had been written by the same author. I couldn't relate to any of the characters and found it impossible to become caught up in the storyline - it was just too clunky!
Pure Escapism July 9, 2010 Ms. Sha Armstrong I loved this book with it's description of the Cornish coast and adventurous characters. Easy to read but still satisfying.
Frenchmen's Creek June 30, 2010 Suzannah If you like piracy, skullduggery and love this book is the one for you. I first read this book when I was a teenager and decided to re-read Daphne Du Maurier when my bookclub read Jamaica Inn. Frenchmen's Creek is beautifully written set amongst the cornish coastline and if you've never been you will want to go. This book has adventure, romance and a "love conquerors all element". A truly wonderful read. Once read never forgotten.

This was ordered by me and sent as a gift, I know it has arrived but cannot say any more than that.
surprisingly weak May 13, 2010 S. Smith Ordinarily i enjoy reading du Maurier, but for quite a few reasons, this book was a big disappointment.
The characters are stereotypical, had a whiff of Mills and Boon about it. The relationship between the central characters did not convince at all. The heroine's attitude to the servant, William, who was repeatedly described as having a 'button mouth', was also unconvincing.
I reached page 100 and then skimmed the rest, with the nagging internal debate that either i should abandon the book or that perhaps the next page will be the turning point. Unfortunately, it took to the last page for me to realise i should have gone with the first option.
