4 out of 5 stars Ocean sailing review   October 17, 2009
D. Simpson
I have found this book very informative and covers all that I needed to know.
However if you purchase this book, DO NOT buy Celestial Navigation by Tom Cunliffe. As the first 64 pages of Ocean sailing IS that book.

5 out of 5 stars A good option to review the basics   July 28, 2009
Fernando Romo Martin (England/Spain)
It is an amazing book that covers from the very first begining in the theory of celestial navigation . It goes to the essentials points, but it is good if you have already a background in navigation. There are a few exercises to explain the theory, that is very clearly explained but it is also necessary another book to complete the practice .For me, it has been a very good option to review the theory.

5 out of 5 stars Clear text with diagrams in colour   November 26, 2000

I was a little surprised to find the first 56 pages are a repeat of Tom's earlier 'Celestial Navigation', which is easy to follow even in monochrome. The colour version in this book is easier on the eye. The descriptive sections on Deep Water Meteorology and The Ocean Passage are well written and informative. You only need buy one of these two books. If you have neither and are looking for a book on sextant use, buy Ocean Sailing.
