5 out of 5 stars Many Congratulations !   January 20, 2010
Mary V (Hants)
This is a very inspirational read. Geoff Holt has recently successfully crossed the Atlantic , but the voyage did not get the national publicity it deserved, due to the media being more interested in snow reports than in his story. I thoroughly recommend this book.

5 out of 5 stars An amazing read   August 13, 2009

This book will really make your think about your own life. Geoff has managed to make the best of the hand life has dealt him, having been paralysed following a diving accident. This is his story - and it is quite a story culminating in his trip round britain. It is well written, engaging and you won't be able to put it down. For Geoff life is a glass half full, it is amazing what he has achieved and it made me think about the things I complain about...

5 out of 5 stars Walking on Water: A voyage Around Britain and Through Life   January 18, 2009

This is a most emotional read. I dont normally read books but I met Geoff at an event for people with disabilities, and he is such an inspiration, he said to me that it would make me cry - and it did!

It is one of those books that you are willing him on all throughout it, and you just cannot put it down. It tells the story of his life, the amazing adventure sailing around Britain, and all the remarkable people that he has met on his life journey.

I would throughly recommend - Janine Williams, Regional Manager - Phab

5 out of 5 stars A GREAT READ AND AN UPLIFTING BOOK   December 15, 2008
David Howard (BRACKNELL)
Great book, thoroughly enjoyed it. It is a testament to Geoff and Elaine's (the authors wife) drive and "stick-to-itiveness" that they have not let Geoff's disability dictate how they live their lives.

He has done wonders, not only in his sailing exploits but also in other areas, as he has held down a full time job, got married, had a child and lived his life by ignoring his physical handicaps wherever possible.

Would recommend this book to everyone.

5 out of 5 stars The best book I have read this year   December 1, 2008

For me a good book is one that I can't put down because I need to know what happens next. Well this was such a book. I started reading it on a plane, we had actually landed driven up to the gate and people started getting up to take their things off before I even realised we had landed...I was so into it. I then stayed up to the wee hours to finish it.
The book weaves the 3 stories together as a novelist would craft a thriller - which results in a compelling, well written tale. This is a true story of how one man overcomes adversity following a swimming accident which sees him wheel chair bound. He then goes onto achieve more than most do in a life time, but not just for himself - he contributes hugely to improve the lives of others. It is a very honest book written with no sense of feeling he is making himself out to be a hero - it is very self effacing.
This is a book that even if you are not interested in sailing is inspirational and well worth the read.
